Notarized and Delayed

You're in St. Petersburg for a weekend conference, and a contact passed along Leana Lovings's name when you mentioned needing someone local to notarize and courier documents before Monday. She shows up at your hotel room that Saturday afternoon with a leather satchel over one shoulder and a portable ink pad tucked inside, spreading paperwork across the small writing desk near the window with the brisk efficiency of someone who has done this a hundred times in a hundred different rooms. The work is done inside fifteen minutes. She's capping her pen, stacking pages, when you thank her in a way that makes her slow down rather than pack up. Something in the tone. Unhurried and direct. Leana sets the pen on the desk and turns to face you with a slight tilt of her head — a quiet look that holds a beat longer than professional courtesy allows. When you move closer, she doesn't step back.
